In the show, this print is hung beside a pedestal containing the book this image came from, opened to the two pages that were eventually used to create this third giclee print. We say “third” because in the book, the image on the right-hand page can clearly be seen to have been created as a direct impression made by closing the book on the wet ink used to make the image on the left hand page.

The line down the middle between the two images is the gutter of the book.

So, in essence, this giclee is a print of an original and a print of it, made by first closing a book, then opening it and taking a photograph of the two pages.

Each step of the process generates a new work in the series.
